Bacteria, viruses and fungi living in the gut flora live together in balance. However, this balance can easily be upset by malnutrition or certain medications. Restoration of the intestinal flora is particularly important for the development of a strong immune system, as the immune system takes approx. 70 percent of the immune system is located in the gut.

There are also beneficial bacteria that have long been used in the food industry. The characteristic sour taste of fermented foods is partly due to the “good” bacteria they contain. Some fermented, untreated preparations contain a large number of live (inoculated) cultures, also known as live flora.

The living flora is made up of useful, living microorganisms that have beneficial effects when they enter our body. The main feature of these microorganisms is that they help to maintain the balance of our intestinal flora by surviving the acidic medium during digestion.

Why is the living flora important to our body?

There are nearly one and a half to two kilos of microorganisms in our intestinal system. This microbial community, which is largely made up of beneficial bacteria, performs important functions such as promoting the absorption of minerals or neutralizing carcinogenic compounds.

“Good” bacteria stimulate the motility of the intestinal wall, produce the nutrients needed by the body, and when they reach the colon, they help break down carbohydrates that are indigestible to humans.

However, the depletion of beneficial microorganisms can upset the balance of our intestinal flora. One of the main consequences of this may be the development of gastrointestinal complaints and diseases. Fortunately, this can be easily prevented by consuming live flora preparations.

Useful microorganisms found in live flora drinks, among other things, help prevent the growth of disease-causing bacteria, strengthen the immune system and play a role in preventing the development of infections.
